The name of my avatar is DavidL Mnemonic. I thought that the look of the default avatar they give you was very boring and unoriginal. I altered almost everything about the initial appearance of my avatar. I have modified my avatar in second life to make it look like I do in real life. I closely matched my physical appearance of my avatar to look like my real life self. I gave him a plain black long sleeve shirt, somewhat dark blue jeans, and black knockoff converse shoes. I usually always wear jeans and a plain shirt. On some occasions I’ll wear a graphic tee shirt. I dress plain because I do not believe that my looks need to say much about my personality, but through my actions and words alone.
I only have one appearance that I use when I log on because I think it would take me too long to try and come up with another appearance. If I were to come up with another one he would look nothing like I do in real life. I didn’t do this part because I didn’t think I would have enough free time or the “want to” to make another.
The only help I received from classmates and other players in second life was trying to match my face a close as I could. I also asked players in SL for help on how to properly put on the clothes that I purchases Other than that, I did not require much assistance on creating my “look”.
I did not spend any money on the making of my avatar. I did not feel the need to get a job and make money because I found plenty of free items within the game. If I have some free time then yes, I will experiment with the job market in SL and perhaps I will purchase certain things. As of right now I am content with the appearance of my avatar despite that fact that I am unskilled on how to remove the default hair.
It was kind of frustrating trying to perfect the look of my avatar to make it look like I do because I could not find out how to remove to default hair that you are given. I still do not how to do this.
I have not experimented much with the gestures and sounds yet. I did however; try the dance gesture just to see if anyone in the surrounding area would join me.
